A little goes a long way. You only need a small pea sized amount for most small cuts, bruises and wounds.
For tattoos, use a thin layer over the area to prevent infection, soothe irritation and swelling and reduce itchiness.

Self Heal is a potent wound healer, with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which target irritation and inflammation. Its high volatile oil and tannin content offer antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties which soothe redness and inflammation while reducing the appearance of pores and neutralising excess oil production. This plant is a traditional herb used for wound healing and first aid. It isn’t commonly used in modern herbalism which is why I’ve used it in this recipe. It grows wild in Scotland and is easy to grow at home as well! It is an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and styptic, helping to promote tissue regeneration and reduce infection, making it highly effective for maintaining a soft and supple texture while encouraging the healing of cuts, burns, scars and other wounds.
